Fog computing addresses inherent challenges in IoT deployments that neither cloud nor edge gateways can resolve alone, such as latency, network bandwidth and security,” said Dirvin. “Fog enables advanced use cases, including autonomous vehicles, drones, real-time production control systems, and 5G. While relatively new, fog is not only important for IoT – it’s vital for efficient, scalable IoT solutions.”

Dirvin’s keynote will focus on the role of fog computing in IoT and describe how it works with both edge gateways and end devices. She will discuss how fog enables advanced use cases that require ultra-low latency, additional security and high network bandwidth. Fog-enabled IoT use cases across a range of industries will also be highlighted.

“Rhonda Dirvin has worked in numerous roles in the semiconductor industry including, marketing, strategy and operations. Her keynote is focused on fog computing and the reason why computing at the edge is not only economical but essential for efficiency and scalable systems,” said Carl Ford, CEO, Crossfire Media, executive director of content, IoT Evolution. “We look forward to hearing the insight she shares in Orlando.”
